Under-floor Heating

Under-floor heating is the most economical way of heating your home. Water based under-floor heating is widely used as an alternative to electrical under-floor heating throughout the world!

The water-based system is hot water circulating through polyethylene pipes within the screed above the slab. Water based under-floor heating is suitable for all floor finishes and stone, slate, ceramic and quarry tiles allow excellent heat transfer and output when laid on concrete and screed.

Conventional systems mainly provide convection heat that circulates through the air that surrounds objects in a building.  Radiant heat warms objects and the general fabric of the building, including people, just like the sun’s heat projects on the earth’s surface.

Under-floor heating eliminates uncomfortable hot or cold airflows around a room and gives even comfortable heating.  The warmest part of the room is next to the floor – not the ceiling.

The heat produced from under-floor comprises 70% radiant heat and 30% convection heat.

Floor heating is as close as you can get to the ideal heating curve.

With regards to electric under-floor heating, there is a school of thought that spending long periods of time living and sleeping in an electro-magnetic field might have serious long-term affects on one’s health.
